How the charts work
Votes
- Any signed-in fan can back up to 25 songs a week, one vote per song.
- The chart week runs Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59 (UTC). Votes reset every Monday.
- New accounts can vote once they're 72 hours old, which stops throwaway accounts flooding a chart.
- Every limit is enforced on our servers and in the database, not in the app.
Scores
- The Weekly Core counts this week's votes.
- Greatest of All Time, decade and genre charts count each fan once per song, ever. Voting every week doesn't multiply anyone's influence.
- Top Artists and Top Albums count the different fans who have backed any of their songs.
- The Rising Core is for artists our reviewers mark as emerging or independent, and only while they have fewer than 500 fans behind them. Established artists can't take it over.
- A song needs 3 different fans to enter a chart. Charts with fewer than 50 fans behind them are marked provisional.
- Ties go to the song that reached its score first.
What never affects a chart
- Money. Sponsored placements are always labelled and never change a score.
- Reputation, achievements or creator status. Every fan's vote counts the same.
- Creator games, challenge votes and the creator Billboard, which are separate systems.
Fairness reviews and appeals
We watch for bursts of votes from new accounts. If a review finds an account voting dishonestly, its votes are removed and the action is logged. If you think we got it wrong, email hello@rankcore.app and a person will look again.
History
Every chart is frozen at the end of each week, so past positions never change.
